Crucial food security for Umoja Children’s Home
At Umoja Children’s Home, the Safaricom Posho Mill has become a crucial part of our efforts to provide for the children. Thanks to Safaricom’s generous donation, this mill has made a significant difference in how we support our daily needs.
Watch the video below to see the impact of the Posho Mill:
“We depend on well-wishers”. The video tells the story of how Safaricom’s Posho Mill has made a big difference in our ability to support our children.
One of our children, Precious, joined us in 2013 after losing both parents to HIV in 2012. She shares her story: “My parents died in 2012 of HIV. I was brought to Umoja Children’s Home in 2013 while in class 5.” Many of our children have similar stories.
Even with the support we receive, we face ongoing challenges. “Even now, we don’t have enough food and so many things in our home,” Joseph our director states, highlighting our continued needs.
The Posho Mill, donated by the Safaricom Foundation, has become essential for us. It primarily helps us provide food (Ugali) for the children. “The Posho Mill has really helped us,” says Precious. “Many times, we use it to grind maize for flour.”
The Posho Mill has had a significant impact on our ability to provide for the children. It addresses a core part of our food needs and supports our ability to be self-sustaining. We are very grateful for Safaricom’s generous support and we hope this story will inspire other generous partners to invest their support in our future.
Your support, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word, continues to make a significant impact on the lives of our children.
