Our orphanage’s journey
Umoja Children’s Home is a Kenyan orphanage founded in August 2003 during the challenging HIV crisis. Juliana, her son Joseph, and our Umoja team started this home to care for local children in need.
For over 20 years, we have worked hard to fight the impact of AIDS and provide education, healthcare, and love to the children. With support from the community, schools, hospitals, and volunteers, Umoja has become a leading children’s home in the region.
Our purpose
At Umoja Children’s Home, we provide a loving and supportive environment for orphaned and vulnerable children in Bomet, Kenya. We focus on their growth, education, and well-being, helping them to build a brighter future.
Our team is dedicated to creating a safe and caring environment for the children. We work together on farming, cleaning, cooking, and learning, ensuring that every child feels supported. As a nonprofit organisation, all donations and help goes directly to the children.
Our focus is on “Knowing God, Education, and Health,” which helps children grow spiritually, learn new things, and stay healthy. The video gives a brief window into the life of our children at Umoja Children’s Home.
Our story is about compassion and teamwork, showing that positive change is possible even in tough times. We welcome anyone who wants to help, learn more about us, and join our loving family.

Trust in us
For more than 20 years, Umoja Children’s Home has been a recognised and trusted home for children in need. We are proud to be one of the leading children’s home in Bomet County. We are registered as a Charitable Children’s Institution with the Kenya Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, which ensures we meet the best standards of care.
Since 2005, we have been registered as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) (under the name “Umoja Children’s Centre”). We’ve built strong partnerships within the local community with schools, partners such as the Red Cross and our Church, demonstrating the trust of the community.
At Umoja, the well-being and growth of each child is our top priority. Every donation and contribution is gratefully received and directly used to benefit the children in our care. You can trust in our mission and faith in God to always prioritise the children and their welfare.
